This week, we made lavender bags. Picking the tiny, dried flowers off the stalks, grinding with a pestle and mortar, winding and tying the string encourages little hands to coordinate and use a range of movements. In addition, there is the wonderful sensory stimulation from the scent and textures of the different materials used. Let’s hope all that calming lavender perfume helped our Tree Tots get a good night’s sleep.
Developing strength and dexterity in the hands, is a precursor to learning to read and write. At Tree Tots we provide activities that can help with this but are holistic, natural and creative at the same time.
