Our Roots

Led by the Wild is a not for profit community interest company.  Our aims are to engage children and adults in nature-led learning, to conserve the natural environment, to create sustainable habitats for nature and to involve the local community in events and wildlife projects.

With over 30 acres of woodland, pasture, wildflower meadows and gardens, Led by the Wild is the perfect place for you to explore and nurture yourself in nature’s great playground.

Our Three Branches

Led by the Wild is divided into three branches, Community, Conservation and Environmental Educational.  These branches overlap and interweave to create exciting opportunities for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors.

We love engaging the local community through free educational events ranging from bumblebee days and moth nights to rural heritage craft days and volunteering opportunities.

In 2023 we created our community edible garden and were able to donate nine crates of fresh salads and vegetables a week to local food banks.  We have also been out in the local community creating wildflower areas and participating in local events.

Conservation underpins all that we do at Led by the Wild. Both preserving the flora and fauna we have on site and putting in place new measures to increase biodiversity are of paramount importance and we invite young and old to come and be involved with projects to make the Led by the Wild site a place where the natural world can flourish.

We have a group of volunteers who monitor the site to see what lives here and are excited to say that in the past year we have recorded a couple of rare species!

Our woodland area is the perfect setting for young and old to enjoy nature and get creative!

We run weekly woodland activity sessions for under 5s and monthly groups for families to bring their little “Wildings” along to play, create, explore or relax in our woodland camp.

After a musical session and storytime, the children can create artwork or nature projects and go off to explore the woodland.  The morning is rounded off by marshmallows around the campfire … or sometimes homemade pizza from our pizza oven!
