Environmental Education at Led by the Wild
At Led by the Wild, we believe in hands-on, immersive learning that connects children and young people to nature, conservation, and rural heritage. Our education programmes empower the next generation of environmental stewards by providing engaging, practical experiences that build knowledge, skills, and a lasting connection with the natural world.
Eco-Change Makers Programme
Our fully funded Eco-Change Makers Programme inspires children to take meaningful action for their local environment. Schools are invited to design and implement a nature-based project—such as creating a wildflower meadow, planting hedgerows, or building wildlife habitats—on their school grounds. Participants visit our conservation site for an action-packed day of learning, where they gain the skills and confidence to carry out and sustain their project. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery and the Edina Trust, schools receive an Eco-Change Makers Box with tools and resources to support their work, ensuring long-term impact. Themed Conservation Days
Our Themed Conservation Days bring learning to life through hands-on environmental activities, from pond dipping and reptile surveys to wildflower planting and sustainable land management. Whether it’s exploring biodiversity, learning about pollinators, or understanding traditional conservation techniques, these days provide immersive experiences that connect young people to their local environment in a meaningful way.
Rural Heritage Programme
Rooted in history and tradition, our Rural Heritage Programme introduces children to the skills, crafts, and knowledge that have shaped our landscapes for centuries. Through interactive workshops, we explore traditional crafts such as weaving, woodworking, and foraging while highlighting the importance of sustainable living and heritage conservation.
We partner with schools, community groups, and educators to ensure our programmes align with learning objectives, providing unforgettable experiences that blend education with real-world action. Whether through conservation, heritage, or eco-citizenship, we equip young people with the tools to lead change in their schools, homes, and communities.
